This is the 1st post, on this blog, of a new feature I will call "Silly Signs Saturday" (I like the alliteration in this title). Every Saturday from here on out I will post a humorous but real sign. Check in every week at this time for side splitting laughs of signs that I have found in real life or on "the Net". Posted by Picasa

Before J.J. started line painting this summer he should have went back to "shcool" to learn how to spell. Posted by Picasa

Welcome to a new feature I decided to add to this blog. Now that my readership has expanded to more than my friends (I get emails now from all over Canada and The U.S. and even an occasional one from overseas) I decided to add new features. The 1st is "This Date in History" which I will update a couple of times a week - it could be sports, politics, entertainment or anything else of general interest. Anywho... on May 26th 1988 the Edmonton Oilers captured the Stanley Cup by defeating The Boston Bruins in a 4 game sweep. Also, on this day in 1970, the last episode of "I Dream of Jeannie" aired. "The Greek" checking in after a respectable 2nd round to give his expert predictions of what WILL happen in the Conference finals.

Hurricanes over Sabres. I like Buffalo and was debating taking them but then I heard Pierre McGuire say that The Sabres would win and I knew the difference. This clown knows less about hockey than Rolo and all Leafs fans combined. With Pierre giving his "expert" opinion I know that the other team (Carolina) will win. Hurricanes in 6.

Edmonton over Anaheim. Q: What do wings, sharks and ducks all have in common? A: They can all be deep fried in Oil. (HA! HA! HA! I kill me). Edmonton has something that Ottawa or Joe Thornton doesn't that you need to excel in the playoffs - Heart! I am not an Oilers fan but I have to take them because of the passion they are showing right now when it counts. Also I can take them because Rolo used to be an Edmonton fan but got frustrated with them and switched to Toronto before the season began - another brilliant move by Vic. Oilers in 7.

This is "The Greek" saying goodbye for now and I will be back in a couple of weeks to let you know who will be in possession of Lord Stanley's Cup at playoffs end. Posted by Picasa

With our summer ball hockey league starting next week I would like to share with you a sign one of the groupies had during last year's finals.  Posted by Picasa

Doug Flutie, the greatest football player ever (besides Deion Sanders), retires!! Flutie played 22 years of Pro ball in the USFL(???), CFL and NFL. Best known for 3 things : 1st is his Hail Mary pass to give Boston College a 47 -45 victory over defending national champs Miami. 2nd is he was 5' 2" and excelled in a big man's game and 3rd and best of all - Flutie Flakes! Posted by Picasa

Pominville scores OT winner as Buffalo advances to rd. 3 with a 4-1 series win over Ottawa. Ottawa chokes in the Playoffs for the 40,000th time. Posted by Picasa

I was watching T.V. last nite and flicked on wrestling for the 1st time in years - you can only imagine my surpise when i saw Myers in a mask about to wrestle Montague with his hair grown out. Who would have thought that 2 people from Labrador City would be facing each other in the WWF - I guess for Ed and Weasle, dreams do come true. Posted by Picasa

Upon receiving his second straight MVP award on Monday, Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash accused the NBA of "being out to make a fool of [him]." "Listen, it was kind of funny the first time. I mean, I can take a joke. My family was quite embarrassed, but that's beside the point," Nash told those gathered at the ceremony. "But this is just getting ridiculous. Look, I get itI'm short, white, and Canadian. Ha ha, real fuckin' funny. You sick bastards. Did Amare Stoudemire put you up to this?" When asked about the chances of him winning a third MVP award in as many years, Nash emitted a terse laugh while glaring at the reporters and drumming his fingers on the podium. Posted by Picasa

Steve Nash of Canada wins the NBA's Mp3 award for the second year in a row. This just shows Canada's dominance over the U.S.A. in all 5 of the major sports. We have the best player in basketball, we are better in hockey, we are Olympic champions in curling, we beat them at the World Baseball Championship this year and I am pretty sure that The Edmonton Eskimoes would have destroyed their football champions, The Steelers, with ease last year. The "Greek" here looking to redeem himself after an average 1st round of picks. In the East we had all 4 teams with Black and Red uniforms advance, while in the West we had the bottom 4 seeded teams upset the top 4. Now on to my round 2 picks - I should be able to go 4 for 4 this time as all series' seem easy to a determine the winner in.

- Anaheim over Colorado. These are not The Avalanche that we are used to seeing as of late (they have lost a lot of talent) and Theodore can only hold them in it for so long. Also, these Ducks know how to win and if you have not yet noticed Duck's goalie Bryzgalov is the real deal.
Ducks in 6.

- San Jose over Edmonton. This is the showdown of the class of the '97 draft. Thornton (Joe not Scott), Samsonov and Marleau all were taken that year in the 1st rd. Although Sergei beat out Big Joe and Pat for rookie of the year honors that season he will not beat them out in this playoff series. Look for Joe to struggle once again this series (it is still the playoffs) but for his team mates to once again to pick up the slack and advance over a much weaker Oilers team. Sharks in 5.

- Devils over Canes. I Don't really care much for this match up but boring Devils have the world's best goalie (Brodeur) to cover up most of his teams mistakes. Devils in 6.

- Buffalo over Ottawa. The Sens finally made a move to get a playoff goalie but he is not playing (more going on here than an injury - 10 weeks for a pulled groin???). Emery played well in the regular season but from what I have seen in the playoffs he will be their new scapegoat when they choke once again (Lalime must be happy to be out of that situation). Also I will give Buffalo credit in winning this series as they have not had this much offence since the days of the French Connection - for you non hockey followers that would be the line of Perreault, Martin and Robert from the 1970's. Buffalo in 5. Posted by Picasa
