Canada, Newfoundland, Labrador West and myself would like to congratulate Team Gushue in bringing home the Curling Gold from Turin. Team members are: Brad Gushue, Mark Nichols, Russ Howard, Jamie Korab and Mike Adam. Maybe this achivement will silence their critics (Randy Ferby and others). I am from Labrador West and know both Mike and Mark personally - I played soccer with Mark and actually curled with Mark's dad for a year. I am proud to say that I know both of these young men and would like to thank them again for the most exciting sporting event in the 2006 Olympics.

Canada's Chandra Crawford stunned the women's cross-country field as she captured the gold medal in the 1.1-kilometre sprint at the Torino Winter Games Wednesday. 

On Sunday afternoon Piper "The Sniper" and the rest of the Canadian Women's Olympic Hockey Team captured gold by beating Team Sweden 4-1. Congrats. at least we are still #1 in Women's hockey! 

Cindy Klassen of Canada wins another silver in Long Track Speed Skating on Sunday. This is her third medal of The Olympics and she is still scheduled to compete in 2 more events. 

Canada's Pierre Lueders and Lascelles Brown capture silver in the 2 man bobsleigh competition at the Olympics on Sunday.

Canada captures medals of every color today at the Olympics. Skeleton racers Duff Gibson and Jeff Pain captured Gold and silver respectively and Dominique Maltais won the Bronze in Snowboard Cross.

Canada's medals from Thursday at the Olympics. Jeff Buttle and Mellisa Hollingsworth-Richards won bronze in figure skating and skeleton. Silver medals were awarded to both the men's and women's speed skating pursuit teams. 

Anouk LeBlanc-Boucher of Prevost, Que., captured a bronze medal in the women's 500-metre short-track speedskating event at the Winter Olympics on Wednesday.

The big story over the weekend. ... Dick Cheney (U.S. Vice President) accidentally shot a fellow hunter, a 78-year-old lawyer. In fact, when people found out he shot a lawyer, his popularity went up to 92 percent."

Favoured to win Sunday's 3,000 metres, Canadian speed skater Cindy Klassen tired down the stretch and settled for the bronze medal in her first of five events at the Torino Olympic Winter Games. 

Canadian cross-country skiers Beckie Scott and Sara Renner won a silver medal in the women's team sprint Tuesday at the Torino Olympics.  

Jennifer Heil wins Gold in freestyle moguls. She recieves Canada's 1st medal on the 1st day of Olympic competition. Congrats. to Jen from all of Canada. 

The Bruins celebrate one of the two goals Brad Stuart scored on Wednesday. The Bruins held supposed superstar Sidney Crosby pointless and beat the Penguins 3-1. 

Hines Ward of Pittsburgh after winning The Superbowl 21-10 over Seattle. He was named the game's MVP and joins a list of greats that includes Larry Brown of The Cowboys from Superbowl XXX.

Congrats. to Dan Lacosta (front row-left) who backstopped The East to a 9-3 victory over The West in the 2006 OHL all-star game on Wednesday.

For all of the people who have been asking me over the last week if I received The Greek's pick for the Superbowl yet - I just want to let you know that The Greek doesn't send me his picks. I have been pretending that he sends them to me all year - I actually make these picks myself and let you believe that he sends them to me. Sorry to deceive you. I can go 11 and 0 in the playoffs with a correct pick this week.
After almost 2 weeks to mull it over I have to take Pittsburgh to win the Superbowl. Even though 2 Sundays ago, I was at The Hideaway watching the Steelers-Broncos game when I saw a couple of fans (who were grown men) jump up and down and sing "the wheels on the bus go round and round," after Jerome Bettis ran for like three yards. Then these "men" (JJ and Ev) proceeded to jump on each other and wrestle each other down to the ground .. at a bar ... in front of people.
For this reason alone I should not pick The Steelers but I have to because they are playing Seattle.
What's the difference between the Seattle Seahawks and Cheerios?
Cheerios actually belong in a bowl.
Why can't Matt Hasselbeck use the phone anymore?
Because he can't find the receiver.
The Steelers will win easily and Seattle fans will have to keep on listening to grunge music as they drink their coffee in the rain - or what ever else there is to do there.
And I have to take The Steelers - how can I go against a team that wears Bruins' colors.
