150 of the world's best foosball players gather in Calgary for "Foosapalooza 2006" with an incredible grand prize of, um, $7,500 Canadian ($150 U.S.)... Sponsored by SML Entertainment and held at Calgary's Olympic Oval, the tournament is sanctioned by both the United States Table Soccer Association (USTA) and the International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF).
The event is open to pros, beginners and novices alike and will feature both singles and doubles events, as well as presenting a forward shootout and a goalie shootout Saturday and Sunday. Moreover, Friday night will offer a fun DYP - draw your partner doubles event to kick off the weekend's festivities
"Foosapalooza is for all levels from rookies to pros," said Dean Fisher, marketing director for SML Entertainment. "Regardless of the skill level, these foosball players are extremely competitive and the action is fast-paced and spirited."
Novice singles, rookie singles, open singles, semi-pro singles, the forward shootout and the goalie wars will all take place Saturday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., while Sunday's events include open doubles, rookie doubles, semi-pro doubles and novice doubles.
