Canadian Press Team of the Year!

Congrats to Local hero Mark Nichols and his Team Gushue curling rink for being named CP Team of the Year for 2006. They were the Olympic Champions and beat out The Canadian Junior Hockey Team, Women's Olympic Hockey team and The Edmonton Oilers for this honor. They join Steve Nash (CP male athlete of the year) and Cindy Klassen (CP Female athlete of the Year) as Canada's best for 2006. Way to go Mark - not to bad for a kid from Labrador City.
Mark actually played on my soccer team one summer and I curled on the same team with his dad.

The Bi-Polar Express*

T.O. snubbed from The Pro Bowl.
Owens who not just leads the NFC in touchdown receptions but the whole league was not chosen to play in this years Pro Bowl. This is the first time in Pro Bowl history that the league's leading touchdown reciever has not been invited to play.
You know you are hated when: the writers, the fans and the owners do not chose you to play when you are far and above the best at your position in the league.
Before this week's actions this would have been a rant and I would have been outraged - but after T.O.'s actions this week I say: " if you spit you must sit!"

NFL Ramblings

Just a couple of points from this weeks games:
- LT sets 5 NFL records in last two weeks. I compared him to Gretzky last week in this blog and on Sunday nite so did the announcers - someone is reading my site and stealing my ideas - all I ask is to be given credit. I would hate to sue NBC for this but I will not allow my posting to be used without acknowledgement.
- LT also named Sporting News' "Sportsman of the Year"
- The Boys are back. After a poor showing the week before, against The Saints, The Cowboys destroyed Atlanta this week and clinched a playoff spot!
- T.O. goes to far; even for me. I did not mind the showboating, the trash talking and all of his other antics (hell I liked him even more because of this) but when it comes to spitting on another individual even I disapprove of this. It is degrading and after he helps us win this years Superbowl decisions have to be made.
- Words I thought I would never say: T.O. must go! My heart is broken! Why T.O. Why ?????

The Best ????

If you know me you probably know that I am a Dallas Cowboys fan and love to praise them. I usually don't (read almost never) give other teams or players credit. However, the other day I heard LaDainian Tomlinson's coach saying that he thinks that LT is the best running back ever. I take exception to this and would argue that he is not the best running back ever - I argue that he is the greatest football player ever!!!
If you are a football fan I urge you to watch every Chargers game possible - sometime amazing is happening now and years down the road you don't want to think that you missed out.
The only comparison I can make to LT is Gretzky when he played hockey. LT is as dominant in football as "The Great One" was on the ice.
My props go out to LaDainain (I'll give credit where it is due) but from now on I will focus on "The Boys" - I just had to voice my expert opinion (read fact) on what is happening in San Diego right now!

NFL Rankings From the Experts

The "experts" who write about the NFL have finally ranked the top two teams correctly. This is how I have had them ranked since week 10 (see previous posts). Peter King has finally ranked them right and this is the link for "Real football 365". Even "Pro Football Talk", the best football site on the entire internet, has these rankings - thanks to Eddy Spagetti for sending them to me.

Funny Joke

Bartender: I think you had enough sir.

Drunk: Leave me alone; I lost my wife!

Bartender: Well, it must be hard losing a wife...

Drunk: Hard? It was almost impossible!

Superbowl Prediction Reiterated

Week 13 in the NFL is just about over (just 2 games left) and I was looking back at my post after week 10. In this post I predicted a Cowboys vs. Chargers Superbowl. Now I know it is to earlier to gloat b/c neither team is there yet but if you look at the hottest teams in the league at this very moment you have The Chargers at #1 (6 wins in a row) and The Cowboys at #2 (4 straight wins). I took a bit of heat over my prediction and people even told me The Cowboys wouldn't even make the playoffs (these same people laughed at The Boys picking up Gramatica last week - wonder if they watched todays game?)
Anyway I would like to repeat my prediction of a Cowboys vs. Chargers Superbowl and when the dust settles Tony Romo and T.O. will be holding The Vince Lombardi Trophy (pictured) for being the Superbowl Champions.
